Modernization Increases Silver per Capita
It is attention grabbing when it is seen that every day the culture in the world is more geared towards technology, which adds to more silver being used per person in the world. As everyone is aware of China is presently one of the countries that is modernizing itself more and more everyday and at the moment China uses around one seventieth of the silver per capita that is utilized in North America. Due to this factor it is obvious to observe the very big potential demand increase that China has as the country becomes more involved in business and production.
China is expanding and the need it has for silver is going to increase more and more. It was reported that China’s internal mining activity was getting together for the demand for silver in 1998 until 2003 and China has was also exporting silver during that time. In the year 2004 the mining action that was going on in China did not meet the needs though. Since China is aware that they are going to be needing silver in order to continue developing they are in the process of finding a way of increasing their silver mining activity.
There is a company that is called the Shanghai Contor Enterprise Development Company that is planning on increasing the competitiveness and status of the silver industry in China in the international market according to what the officials have said and the Silver Institute has also said that in the effort to cultivate China’s growing silver industry, there were private investors that are planning on building the Shanghai Silver Industry Exploitation Zone and this area is led by the Shanghai Contor Enterprise Development Company.
This increase is going to be separated into various areas that would include the production and processing of silver products, business matters, logistics, trade, information, exhibition, scientific research, as well as education and other services. They are also going to provide other important industries that have to do with machinery that process silver, electronics and sensitive materials. The processing area and production is aiming to have production sensitization materials for electronics such as for thick films, and a specific area that will take care of silver antiseptic products.
The trade area is also going to have a technical information and research exchange, an education area, a media area to circulate sites and papers about silver, a silver culture museum and garden, and a management area that will include a hotel, restaurant and offices.
At the time being China is number five in the world when it comes to the production of silver and is right behind Peru, Mexico, the United States and Australia. China uses 1,664 tons of silver on a yearly basis whereas the United States uses 6,587 tons. Obviously due to the opportunity there is in China’s silver market at present, it is anticipated that the consumption and production in the market is going to increase.
The reason that Shanghai was picked as a silver center is due to the power it has in the business and finance aspect. The development is going to be sustained by an infrastructure that already exists and will include telecommunications, roads, communications, gas and electricity. The first part of the project was programmed to be done in 2005 and the whole thing is projected to be finished in 2008.
